Netflix, Anyone?

NETFLIX, ANYONE?

In these days of self-isolation, the need to find your next great t.v. series is greater than ever. We asked some industry folks what they're watching these days, and for their top recommendations to last us until we can leave our homes again. Pull up a couch!

 BECKY THOMAS

I think at times like this we should all binge watch (if we weren't taking care of these horses we can't sell!) “Curb Your Enthusiasm.” It is funny and lighthearted about ordinary every day activities.

JEN ROYTZ, RETIRED RACEHORSE PROJECT

My all-time favorite horse movie is Phar Lap (incredible horse, incredible story, incredible movie), though I love The Black Stallion and Black Stallion Returns for its cinematography and musical score in addition to the theme. For anyone with horse-crazy kiddos stuck at home, there's a Canadian-produced series called “Heartland” that is great (and there are a LOT of episodes/seasons, so it will keep them busy for a while!)

JIM COX, DARLEY

Let it Ride,” a 1989 movie starring Richard Dreyfuss. He keeps parlaying his horse winnings during an afternoon at the track. Very funny. Every bettor's dream day.

PETER KIRWAN

Peaky Blinders on Netflix!

BOB WHITE, DOUBLE DIAMOND FARM

I like a good family movie. “The Sandlot” reminds me of being a kid and what was “really”important to us then. I also love baseball and miss it during this time. Be safe, everyone.

JON SIEGEL, PM ADVERTISING

The Biggest Little Farm. This movie surprised us how good it was. The cinematography is amazing. The struggle of farm life mixed with family life was familiar to us. This movie is great to watch as a family or by yourself. Hands down, one of the best movies we've seen in a while. Here is the official trailer.

DUNCAN TAYLOR, TAYLOR MADE FARM

Arthur, with Dudley Moore and Liza Manelli. It makes me laugh.

TORIE GLADWELL

I lived on the Black Stallion series and movies. I read every book twice, plus what girl doesn't love Pretty Woman. TV shows– Ozark, Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, Outlander, Black Sails, Vikings just to name a few.

PATRICK MAHAN, STUDIO 34

Pursuit of Happyness starring Will Smith comes to mind. It's an inspirational true story about facing tough times with strength, courage and determination. It reminds me of one of my favorite quotes by Ralph Waldo Emerson: “What lies behind us, and what lies ahead of us, are but tiny matters compared to what lies within us.” I also highly recommend watching this video by Ray Dalio, one of the greatest financial minds of all-time explaining how the economy works. Very relevant to understanding what we're experiencing now.

MICHELLE HUCKABAY

Casey's Shadow and International Velvet are childhood favorites of mine.

Current day non horsey: The Americans, Jack Ryan, Ozark

JUSTIN CASSE

Watched Contagion two nights ago; it's NOT a pick me up, but is scarily educational at the moment.

Netflix- Narcos, The Witcher, Bloodline, Master of None, Living With Yourself

HBO- Succession, The Outsider, Westworld, Watchmen, Chernobyl, Euphoria

Binge away.

GRAY LYSTER

Movies: The Last Waltz and Jeremiah Johnson!

SID FERNANDO

I recommend The Outsider on HBO.
